Our next Valley Voices meeting will feature Doug Allen, the new Consumer Affairs attorney in the District Attorney’s office. What he has to say should be of interest business owners and residents.

Here is a bit about him:

Doug was hired by the Santa Cruz County District  Attorney’s  office at the end of May of this year to handle consumer fraud and related white collar crime.  He has 33 years of complex civil trial and appellate experience and has  tried cases all over California in State and Federal Court. He is admitted to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court, and has done business related litigation and consulting in Alaska, Nevada, North Dakota, Colorado and South Dakota.  In the 1980’s  he represented a number of homeowners and associations in logging litigation in Santa Cruz County.

Community Discussion: County Updates Permitting for Special Event Businesses @ Zayante Fire Station Community Room

The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has been working for the past several years on modernizing and streamlining the permits for special event businesses, such as wedding venues and wine tasting rooms. The County is hosting several upcoming public meetings to present the draft updates, answer questions and hear your comments and questions. A key part of the process is to engage affected business owners and interested residents so that the final regulations reflect the needs of the community. The upcoming meeting is scheduled for:
